The following is an FAQ provided by the legal division of the AOC:

Q: I have a case pending in XYZ County where certain defendants in the case have been dismissed. Why do these dismissed parties continue to receive notice of hearings and service copies of orders in that case from the court?

A: While the defendants have been dismissed, there has not been a final judgment entered in your case. Therefore, the defendants still remain as parties in the case and are required to be served with the notices and orders per the operation of Rule 5 of the Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure.
