Should I get a new lawyer??

My lawyer is a church friend of mine, he isn't charging me for his help. However, he didn't inform me, either, when my ex-boyfriend submitted a request for a hearing (and was granted it) regarding the child custody of my daughter. He had the hearing, and now I am expected to give a deposition within a couple of weeks, along with answering interrogatories and supplying documents to support my answers.

My lawyer tells me not to worry, last time we went through this it turned out great. He is right, I was granted permission to take my daughter to Germany for 3 years for my job.

Now her previously absentee father wants to take me to trial for child custody.

Can I ask these kinds of questions on this forum?
